The Cybersecurity Voucher
On October 13, 2022, the Finnish government issued a regulation on support for cybersecurity development, known as the cybersecurity voucher. The voucher is intended for companies in sectors critical to the functioning of society. The support comes in two amounts: €15,000 and €100,000.
Support of €15,000 can be applied for, e.g., for:
- auditing and assessment of information systems

any other similar action that enhances the company's cybersecurity.
Support of €100,000 can be applied for, e.g., for:
- attack prevention testing
- testing the preparedness level of critical electronic services
- other immediate actions that improve cybersecurity based on
these.
What Cybersecurity Services Does SuomiCom Offer?
The voucher can be used for various purposes, including: Denial of Service (DoS) attack mitigation services, advanced firewall solutions and two-factor authentication for VPN services. These services are offered by SuomiCom.
Denial-of-Service Attack Protection Service (DDoS Protection)
It is advisable to protect internet connections from denial-of-service attacks already at SuomiCom’s backbone network, preventing the attack from reaching the customer. For DDoS protection, a basic level of defense is available, capable of mitigating high-volume attacks. In addition, a scrubbing service is available, which filters out malicious traffic, leaving only clean, legitimate traffic.
Advanced Firewall Services
An outdated firewall often becomes a bottleneck in a company’s network traffic. When maintained by SuomiCom, the firewall’s performance always matches the speed of the internet connection. As cybersecurity threats increase, advanced firewall services have become popular, including attack detection and mitigation, centralized antivirus, and content filtering.

Two-Factor Authentication for VPN Service
VPN connections should be protected with two-factor authentication to prevent unauthorized use of the VPN account. When enabled, login must be verified with a mobile app in addition to the password. Two-factor authentication is available as an add-on service to SuomiCom’s firewall services.
